A waiter or waitress is a member of the catering staff who is responsible for taking orders, delivering food and drinks, and keeping customers happy in a restaurant, coffee shop, bar, or hotel. Servers often work as a team to ensure that customers are well taken care of.
Key responsibilities:
- Greet customers and help them choose food and drinks based on their tastes and preferences.
- Take orders and forward them to cooks and bartenders.
- Deliver food and drinks to customers quickly and efficiently.
- Ensure customers have everything they need to enjoy their meal, such as clean cutlery, napkins, and condiments.
- Manage payments and give change to customers.
- Answer customer questions about the menu, ingredients, food sources, and vegetarian or gluten-free options.
- Ensure the cleaning and storage of tables and service areas.
- Cooperate with other restaurant staff to ensure that customers have a pleasant and memorable experience.

Education and experience required:
There is no formal training or education required to become a waiter. However, some skills can be acquired through hotel or restaurant training programs. Additionally, employers can offer on-the-job training to help new servers gain the necessary skills.
Remuneration:
The hourly rate of a Server varies according to the geographical region and the experience. On average, the rate used by Onestaff's partner establishments is €16.00 excluding tax/hour.
