The kitchen clerk is a member of the kitchen staff responsible for assisting chefs in the preparation of dishes. He or she works closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and high-quality food production for restaurant menus, catering establishments, and canteens.
Main responsibilities:
- Preparing ingredients for dishes, such as cutting vegetables, meat, and seafood
- Follow-up of recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality of prepared food
- Use of kitchen equipment such as blenders, choppers, and ovens
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen and kitchen equipment
- Compliance with hygiene and food safety standards in food preparation
- Management of food stocks and orders of products necessary for food preparation
- Collaboration with other kitchen staff to ensure all orders are fulfilled in a timely manner
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Skills required:
- Good knowledge of basic cooking techniques
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage time to respond to customer requests
- Knowledge of food safety standards and government food hygiene regulations
- Ability to work independently while being part of a kitchen team
Education and experience required:
- Cooking education or equivalent culinary experience
- Experience working in a restaurant, canteen or collective catering establishment
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and ordering products needed to prepare food.
Remuneration:
The hourly rate for a Kitchen Clerk varies according to geographic region and experience. On average, the rate used by Onestaff's partner establishments is €15.00 excluding tax/hour.
